Some Frequently Asked Questions
What is Oddity Archive?
The Oddity Archive is a web series that revolves around the "cultural dustbin", especially as it pertains to media. The Archive also functions as an actual archive of sorts, with a modest collection of off-air Betamax and VHS recordings (about 800 total as of November, 2017). There's also a decent collection of ephemeral video, "ripoff" and "drugstore" LP's/cassettes/8-tracks, not to mention (usually working) obsolete technology.

How often do you release videos?
I try to post new reviews/educational pieces/riffs/etc. every week, usually on Thursdays. Standard Archive episodes are (minus the month of June for a between-season break) released every other week.

How long does it take to make a new Archive episode?
The standing record is five days from conception to completion, however, the norm is about 10-14 days (this is why less ambitious and more ambitious episodes tend to alternate). Archive Riffs usually take 3-4 days. Ben's Junks and episode commentaries generally take 1-2 days.

Why do you always refer to Aurora, Colorado as "Beautiful Downtown Aurora"?
Aurora is kind of an idiosyncratic place (to the point of it being quite frustrating at times). The "Beautiful Downtown Aurora" bit is kind of a cheap shot that goes back to the TV show, "Laugh-In" (Example: A devastating earthquake hit beautiful downtown Burbank (Aurora) today. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $17).

Are all those stories about your childhood true?
Actually, I'd say about 2/3 of them are true. The rest are concocted as plot devices.

Who's that creepy, weird, stoned-looking guy in the intro?
That is actor John Reynolds (1941-1966) in the infamous horror flick "Manos: The Hands of Fate" (1966). This movie is in the public domain and is available for free viewing/download at archive.org if you're so inclined.

I can't find (fill in the blank) episode!
Not actually a question, but everything is listed on this website. That, and if it's not on the standard Oddity Archive YT page, it's on the Lost Episodes Page or on archive.org.

What is Archive Annex?
Archive Annex is a YouTube page devoted to sharing pieces of my personal collection, particularly items discussed in the show not available elsewhere (legally or otherwise). Any rights holders that have heartburn with the postings may request their items be taken down.

Stop right there! Please visit Oddity Archive's Greatest Hits. There's a VERY good chance you'll find it there--though it doesn't really get updated anymore.

Are you ever going to do another livestream?
Maybe someday (if the moon and stars line up just right).

Can I call you on Skype?
You used to be able to. But, thanks to a stalker and a troll (separate), it's now for family and friends only.

What's up with the cardboard box?
For some reason, cameras tend to break when I show my entire face. Needless to say, I can't afford a(nother) new camera.
